First of all, visit a Mining Trainer in your favorite city and buy a mining pick from the mining supplies vendor that should be close to the trainer. I chose the Gelman Stonehand in the Dwarven District of Stormwind City. elwynn_forest_mining_mapHead to Elwynn Forest and start mining Copper Ore from Copper Veins. Make sure to activate your Find Minerals talent.
Mine until you have around 50 points in Mining, you should by then have around 150 pieces of copper ore that you can smelt. The smelting process will give you additional mining points so that you reach around 68 points. I had to complete the path above 3 times to get the necessary points.
It is now time to visit your mining trainer again and level to Journeyman Miner. Be sure to learn the smelting of tin and bronze as well as you will be mining and smelting Copper, Tin and Silver until you reach 125 points.redrigde_mining_mapAs a journeyman miner it is time to leave Elwynn Forest and move forward to Redridge Mountains. The red path in the above map is the main path where you are most likely to find Tin veins and the occasional Silver vein. The green path can be used when the red path is crowded with other miners or when you can move faster then the respawn rate of the veins.
As you reach 93 points, head back to the forge and smelt copper and tin into Bronze and then continue mining the same. After you reach 125 points, you are ready for the next level at the mining trainer, so head back to your favorite one.mining_redridge_mountainsI hope that this article helps you get started with the Mining profession.
