Eowind's fishing daily: An Old Favorite in Darnassus

This time we do the Darnassus Fishing Daily: An old Favorite
General plot: Go to Rut'theran Village, and catch 8 Kaldorei Herring.

Gone fishing…

Noblegarden is back again! Sadly one day was enough for me this year. I had my fun searching for eggs and eating candy. I even got a new Elegant Dress.

I just want to remind those of you who have trouble with finding eggs in Goldshire and Dolanaar to check out last years helpful videos here and here.

So.. I decided to go on a fishing trip.

sun reach harbor fishing

First stop, get some Giant Sunfish from the Sun’s Reach Harbor. Check. Caught some bloated ones as well, happened to contain Lightning Eel! Not too bad : )

hatchet hills fishing

Next stop, Hatchet Hill just outside of Zul’Aman in the Ghostlands. Only caught some Mud Snappers so this place does not really count.

Thondroril river fishing

Last stop, Thondroril River between the Eastern and Western Plaguelands. Lots of Mithril Headed Trout and Greater Sagefish. Even managed to lure a few Redgill and Sunscale Salmon. Hmm, could cook some Poached Salmon and Sagefish Delight for a nice dinner party.. Probably have to wait until Noblegarden has ended or else I will be dining with myself only.

All in all, a nice little fishing trip. Much more relaxing than trying to find eggs in Goldshire together with every other person that lives in Stormwind.

Happy mining / fishing / hunting and gold making.. Tadah!

Gatherers dream…

I went on a gathering run last earlier today, my first in a while as I have been busy with other things lately. First thing that I notice is that my Find Herbs spell is feeling quite different from before, so I try with my Find Minerals spell. Imagine my surprise when I notice that they both work at the same time now. Also, as I am a gatherer, I later tried my Find Fish spell and it worked together with the other two. So no I am able to track all three types of things that I used to have to switch between manually. Dreams do come true.

Unforgotten Places - The Veiled Sea Farm

There is a farm in the Veiled Sea!

Ok, ok.. From the beginning. While in Dalaran I usually meet a lot of travelers and I try to engage them in conversations. The other night I met this fellow fisherman and he told me about the catches that he had made along the shoreline of Silithus. I tried to point out that Silithus did not have any shoreline but the fellow insisted that it had, just that it was not reachable from Silithus. The key here was that you have to swim from either Feralas or Tanaris, but he promised that the catches were worth the effort.

So, as a new owner of a Sea Turtle, I thought that I would take her out for a swim and I set off to Feralas. From there me and my turtle swam south towards Silithus and I must say that the man was right. The amount of Nightfin Snappers, Summer Bass and Salmon that I have hooked.. Not to mention Lightning Eel.

We continued to ride southward and when the shoreline started to show a tendency of shifting eastwards at the southern point of Kalimdor, that was when I first saw the windmill. Tensing a little, as it looked like a Tauren one, we continued towards it and soon a ‘farmtent’ came into view, also that in Tauren style. But after a while of sneaking around I figured that there was no one around even though there was a fire burning in one of the tents. I spent some time in and around the farm but I couldn’t find anything useful and no tracks of the owners.

A little bit to the east from the farm is an entrance to a cave, but that was empty as well. I tried prowling around the place but the only thing I could find was some old bones.

Sea Turtle!

Some days ago I set out towards Howling Fjord to try and catch the legendary Dark Herring. I had heard that it liked to swim with the Fangtooth Herrings so I decided to try my luck in the herring pools that can be found in almost all inland waters in the area. Can you imagine my surprise when I on day two drag up a Sea Turtle!?

Best fishing trip so far.

Gold guide for inexperienced adventurers, continued

miningI thought that I would continue a little bit on the same theme as my last rant. How to make gold as an inexperienced adventurer.

If you have followed my advice and got two of the gathering professions you will most probably want to spend the first money on buying some more bags from the Auction House. This way, when you head out from the city again you will be able to carry even more things that can bring you money. One other thing that comes to bags is that whenever you run out of space, don’t hesitate to throw out useless items that you would sell to a vendor anyway. Always prioritize valuable items and quest items.

Another valuable lesson is to always loot everything from all the creatures and monsters you kill. This is one of the things that I did not know when I started my adventure, everything is worth something and a lot of anything quickly adds up to gold pieces in your money bag. And that is a good thing, right?

Fishing does not really give that much money when you are starting out but it is always a good idea to get a little experience with the fishing pole. When you have seen a little bit more of the world and fished in more places, you will be able to sell the fish for a nice amount of silver and gold as it is used by many of the cooking recipes that are needed by the ‘chefs in training’.

Book review

I’ve been reading a novel tonight, while fishing for some rare coins at the Dalaran fountain. Its name is A Steamy Romance Novel: Northern Exposure.
It is nicely written and I really hope to read more about these characters in the future. Steamy with a hint of humor, would probably be called Romantic Comedy if they put up a play with it.
All in all: 5 out of 5 paws!

Fishing and Cooking

Hi again dear friends.

Last few weeks I’ve been working hard on my fishing and cooking skills. I can say that even though it is hard at times, it is worth every second when you get to each the finished food.

A picture from long ago, when I first started with fishing.

This picture is newer. It was taken a few days ago while I was fishing for Bonescale Snappers in the Howling Fjord

As a last news post this time, I’ve learned how to find fish! Found this Weather-Beaten Journal while fishing in Stranglethorn Vale that described how it is done.

I’m sorry that I don’t have any photos of my cooking yet but I will try to take some the next time. So long friends!
